Comparing Dental Crown Quotes in Thailand: Materials, Lab Work, and Terms
Sources checked 2026-11-04
Compare Thai dental crown quotes by material, temporary crowns, lab work, extra fees, and written terms. Use our worksheet before arranging treatment or travel.
Compare the complete written proposal
A dental crown quote is easier to compare when it names the tooth, the proposed material, what the price includes, and the appointments involved. A lower price per crown does not tell you whether two clinics have quoted the same work.
This checklist focuses on a crown fitted to a natural tooth. If your proposal includes an implant and its crown, use our dental implant quote breakdown to check those components separately. The treating dentist must decide whether a crown is appropriate and explain the suitable options.
Ask each clinic to complete the same comparison below. Keep unanswered items marked “not confirmed” rather than treating them as included or free.
1. Match the tooth, material, and price unit
Have the clinic identify the tooth or teeth on the treatment plan and state whether the amount is per crown or for the entire proposed set. Ask for the material name as it will appear on the written quote, including the brand or product where specified. If the descriptions differ, ask the dentist to explain the difference before comparing the totals.
BIDC’s fee schedule separates porcelain-fused-to-metal, IPS eMax, and zirconia crowns, and lists quantity bands for some ceramic options. That shows why a generic “ceramic crown” price is not a complete specification. It does not establish which material is suitable for you.
Record the currency and the quote’s validity date. Keep the clinical decision separate from a multi-crown pricing offer: ask the dentist to explain the reason for every tooth included in the plan. Our dental crown page provides a starting point for organizing treatment and provider names.
2. Ask what sits outside the crown price
Bangkok Smile’s crown page lists temporary crowns, posts, and core build-ups separately from permanent crowns, and says the estimate is confirmed after the dentist provides a treatment plan. Separate menu items do not establish which ones your case needs or whether your personal quote bundles them.
Ask about examination, imaging, scans or impressions, any temporary restoration, laboratory work, fitting, and review appointments. Have the dentist identify any additional treatment being proposed, its reason, and its separate charge. Avoid adding every possible procedure to your budget as though it were already required.
BIDC also identifies separate charges for items such as imaging, medication, and clinic services. Ask whether charges apply per visit or once for the whole plan. A useful total distinguishes confirmed work, optional choices, and items that remain subject to assessment.
3. Turn the laboratory description into a visit plan
BIDC describes an on-site laboratory and a process that sends digital scans to its lab. For your booking, ask which laboratory will make the restoration, whether its work is included, and who coordinates any requested changes.
Ask the clinic to set out the proposed assessment, preparation, fitting, and review appointments, including how shape, shade, and fit will be discussed. Confirm what happens if the dentist or laboratory needs more time. An on-site lab or a digital workflow alone does not confirm your completion date.
Get the appointment plan before committing to fixed travel dates. For the travel side of the comparison, use our Bangkok and Phuket dental trip budget worksheet. Keep treatment charges and travel costs in separate columns so a cheaper clinical quote does not hide a more expensive trip.
A worksheet to send to each clinic
Make one copy for each proposal and keep the clinic’s reply beside it. Use “included,” “separate charge,” or “not confirmed” for costs; ask for an amount and currency wherever a charge is separate.
| Check | Ask the clinic | Record in the comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Tooth and scope | Which tooth or teeth does this proposal cover? | Tooth identifiers and number of crowns |
| Material | What exact material and product are proposed? | Material name and any specified brand |
| Price unit | Is this per crown or the total for the plan? | Quantity, currency, total, and validity |
| Assessment and records | Are examination, imaging, scans, or impressions included? | Included items and separate charges |
| Temporary work | Is a temporary crown planned, and is its fee included? | The dentist’s plan and any additional cost |
| Other treatment | What additional work is proposed and why? | Separate assessment-dependent items |
| Laboratory and fitting | Who makes the crown and handles requested adjustments? | Lab arrangements, included work, and charges |
| Appointments | What visits are planned, and what if more time is needed? | Confirmed dates or unresolved timing |
| Changes and later help | What happens if the plan changes or I need help afterward? | Payment/change terms, contact, and written policy |
4. Read the written terms before paying
Ask what a deposit reserves, when the balance is due, and how the clinic handles a change in treatment scope after assessment. Request a revised itemized quote before agreeing to additional work. Keep the approved version and the payment record together.
Read any warranty as a specific clinic policy. For example, BIDC’s published crown lab-work terms describe local cover with adjustments, repairs, or replacement by its dentists at its Bangkok clinic. Do not assume that this means reimbursement for care elsewhere.
Ask your chosen clinic to explain the exact cover, exclusions, reporting process, and whether a return visit would be needed. Separately clarify who pays any travel or accommodation costs. Obtain a clinical contact for concerns after treatment; a booking advisor does not replace the treating dentist.
A short request you can adapt
“Please send an itemized quote for the crown treatment you propose, identifying each tooth, material, quantity, currency, and total. Please mark whether scans or impressions, temporary crowns, laboratory work, fitting, reviews, and clinic fees are included. List any further treatment that depends on assessment separately. Please also confirm the appointment plan and the payment, change, and warranty terms.”
Add your intended travel month and the one detail that matters most to your decision. If you already have a quote, refer to its date or reference so the clinic can clarify the same version.
To organize your crown quote questions with ThaiCheckup, tell us which clinic or public offer you are considering and what remains unclear. Please leave medical records and detailed clinical history out of the initial message.
