Before Paying a Hair Transplant Deposit in Thailand: A Consultation Checklist

Before paying a hair transplant deposit in Thailand, confirm the doctor, assessment, cancellation terms, and follow-up. Use this consultation checklist.
Get the answers before reserving a date
Before paying a hair transplant deposit in Thailand, ask for a consultation summary and written booking terms. You should be able to identify the proposed doctor, what still needs assessment, what the payment reserves, and what happens if the appointment or treatment plan changes.
Keep two questions separate: whether the doctor recommends the procedure for you, and whether you understand the booking commitment. A payment receipt answers neither on its own. This checklist helps organize that conversation; the treating doctor must assess suitability and explain the proposed care.
If you are still comparing prices, start with our Bangkok hair transplant quote guide. This article focuses on the decisions and written confirmations to obtain before committing money.
1. Clarify what the consultation will establish
Ask whether the appointment is with the proposed operating doctor, another clinician, or a coordinator, and whether it is in person or remote. Ask what the doctor can establish at that stage and what remains conditional on an examination in Thailand. Have the clinic distinguish a preliminary estimate from the plan you would be asked to approve.
Bangkok Hair Clinic’s FAQ describes free consultations for scalp assessment and says its physicians evaluate whether surgery or another approach is appropriate. That is one provider’s published offer. Confirm the format, clinician, and any consultation charge directly with the clinic you are considering; it does not establish a free video appointment at every clinic.
Bring a short list of your goals and practical constraints. Ask the doctor to explain the options, limits, and unresolved questions in language you understand. If clinical photographs or records are needed, use the submission process the clinic provides. Our hair transplant treatment page can help you organize the procedure and provider names for that discussion.
2. Confirm the doctor and the team for your date
The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery’s consultation questions encourage patients to ask who evaluates them, who participates in surgery, and what qualifications and responsibilities each person has. Ask for names and roles, rather than relying on a general description of the clinic.
Record who is expected to make the treatment plan and perform each proposed surgical step, and who will handle follow-up. Ask what happens if the named doctor becomes unavailable: who contacts you, what alternatives are offered, and whether your booking terms change. These are questions for the clinic to answer, not assumptions about a particular team’s practice.
3. Read cancellation and rescheduling as separate policies
Request the current terms before paying. Check the deposit amount and currency, whether it is credited toward the total, when the balance is due, and what confirms the reservation. Then separate a cancellation from a date change. Being allowed to reschedule does not necessarily mean being entitled to a refund.
For a concrete example, Absolute Hair Clinic’s published policy, checked on 30 October 2026, states that deposits are non-refundable and sets separate rescheduling conditions. It also says the per-graft rate can change for a new procedure date. These are that clinic’s stated terms, not a Thailand-wide rule or a determination of your legal rights.
Ask your clinic to confirm how its terms apply if you cancel, request a different date, the doctor is unavailable, or the assessment changes whether surgery can proceed. Do not assume these situations have the same answer. If a deadline is unclear, request a calendar date, local time, and the required notification channel. Keep the version of the terms that accompanies your booking.
4. Agree how changes and follow-up will be handled
Ask when you will review the final proposed plan and price, and how the clinic obtains your agreement if either changes. Identify which parts of the quote remain estimates. For the arithmetic and inclusions, use the separate quote guide rather than treating the deposit as proof of a fixed final bill.
The NHS hair transplant guide recommends discussing the surgeon’s experience, proposed approach, and follow-up if problems occur. For a trip abroad, turn that into practical questions: which reviews must be in person, who responds after you return home, and what additional appointments or travel would cost. The NHS page’s UK registration instructions are not a licensing checklist for Thailand.
Ask the treating team to advise on your travel plans and any preparation. Get the clinic address and expected appointment sequence before choosing flights and accommodation. Our Bangkok trip page provides destination context; your clinician determines the timing appropriate to your care.
Your consultation and deposit checklist
Use this as a record of answers, not a checklist of treatments you need. Save the clinic’s dated response alongside the quote. Mark an unanswered item as unresolved and follow it up before paying. Swipe across the table on a small screen.
| Decision to clarify | Ask the clinic | Keep with your booking |
|---|---|---|
| Consultation | Who will assess me, in what format, and at what cost? | Clinician, appointment format, fee |
| Proposed plan | What is decided now and what needs an in-person assessment? | Summary and unresolved points |
| Named team | Who performs the proposed steps on my date? | Doctor and team responsibilities |
| Reservation | What does my payment reserve, and when is it confirmed? | Doctor, branch, date, confirmation |
| Payment schedule | Is the deposit credited, and when is the balance due? | Amounts, currency, invoice |
| Cancellation | What happens if I cancel or do not attend? | Written policy and notice method |
| Date or doctor change | What if I reschedule or the named doctor is unavailable? | Deadlines, fees, alternatives |
| Assessment changes | What happens to the booking if the plan cannot proceed? | Clinic’s written answer |
| Follow-up | Who do I contact after returning home, and what costs extra? | Contact, reviews, fee conditions |
A short request you can send before paying
“Before I pay a deposit for [proposed date], please confirm the named doctor and clinic branch, what remains subject to assessment, and the terms that apply to this booking. Please send the payment schedule, cancellation and rescheduling policy, and what happens if the doctor or proposed plan changes. Who can answer my remaining consultation questions, and what follow-up arrangements should I plan around?”
Use the reply to decide what still needs clarification. If the conversation leaves a key question unanswered, arrange that discussion before making a commitment. Save the booking confirmation, quote, terms, and payment receipt together so the arrangements are easy to check later.
