Ultherapy and Thermage in Thailand: What Non-Surgical Skin Tightening Can and Cannot Do

2026-09-02 · Đọc 3 phút · Được Hội đồng Cố vấn Y khoa ThaiCheckup xem xét

Energy-based skin tightening costs $850–$1,800 in Bangkok against $2,500–$5,000 in the West. It produces a genuine but modest result — and understanding the limit is the difference between satisfaction and disappointment.

What these treatments actually are

Ultherapy and Thermage are $850–$1,800 in Thailand, against $2,500–$5,000 in the US, UK, or Australia. Both deliver energy below the skin surface to stimulate collagen remodelling — Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound and reaches deeper layers; Thermage uses radiofrequency and works on more superficial tissue.

Both are non-surgical with essentially no downtime. Results build gradually over two to three months as new collagen forms, and typically last around a year to eighteen months.

The honest limit

This is where expectations most often break down. These treatments produce a modest tightening and lifting effect — noticeable to you, sometimes to people who know you well, and clearly visible in standardised before-and-after photography. They do not produce the result of a facelift, and no clinic that is being straight with you will claim otherwise.

If you have significant skin laxity or jowling, energy-based tightening will underdeliver and you will have spent money to be disappointed. A reputable clinic will say so and discuss surgical options instead. The phrase "non-surgical facelift" is marketing, not a clinical description.

  • Realistic candidates: mild to moderate laxity, typically 35–55, with reasonable skin quality — wanting maintenance rather than transformation.
  • Poor candidates: advanced laxity, heavy jowls, or significant volume loss, where the honest answer is surgery or nothing.
  • Combination: many clinics pair tightening with injectables, which addresses different problems and is a reasonable plan when explained properly.

Verifying the device is real

Ultherapy and Thermage are brand names for specific FDA-cleared devices, and counterfeit or grey-market machines exist in the region. This is the main risk in booking aesthetic treatment cheaply.

  • Ask to see the device and its serial number, and that it is a genuine Merz (Ultherapy) or Solta (Thermage) unit.
  • Ask how many lines or shots are included — pricing is per-shot and a low headline price often means a low shot count.
  • Ask who performs the treatment; in Thailand it should be a physician or a technician under direct physician supervision.
  • Be wary of prices far below the range above. Energy tips are single-use consumables with a real cost.

Fitting it into a trip

Treatment takes 60–90 minutes and is a single-day commitment, which makes it one of the easiest things to combine with a holiday or a health checkup. There is some redness and occasional tenderness for a day or two, and Ultherapy in particular can be uncomfortable during treatment.

One planning note: because results appear over two to three months, you will be home long before you see the full effect. If something concerns you at week six, you are managing it remotely — so choose a clinic that answers messages after you have left.

Câu hỏi thường gặp

How much is Ultherapy in Thailand?+

$850–$1,800 depending on the area treated and the number of shots, compared with $2,500–$5,000 in the US, UK, or Australia. Confirm the included shot count, since pricing is per-shot.

Is it a replacement for a facelift?+

No. Energy-based tightening produces a modest lift suitable for mild to moderate laxity. It does not replicate surgical results, and clinics marketing it as a "non-surgical facelift" are overstating what it does.

How do I know the device is genuine?+

Ask to see the machine and its serial number and confirm it is a genuine Merz or Solta unit. Prices far below the normal range are a warning sign, since the energy tips are single-use consumables with real cost.
