A full egg freezing cycle in Thailand runs $4,500–$7,500 including medication. This guide covers who is legally eligible, the two-week cycle you have to be present for, and the storage costs people forget to budget.

Cost and what a cycle includes

Egg freezing in Thailand is $4,500–$7,500 for a full cycle, typically inclusive of stimulation medication — which is significant, because in the US and UK the drugs are often quoted separately and can add $3,000–$6,000 on their own. Comparable cycles run $10,000–$16,000 in the US.

What that buys is one stimulation cycle, monitoring scans and bloods, egg retrieval under sedation, vitrification, and usually the first year of storage. It does not buy a guaranteed number of eggs — that depends on your ovarian reserve, which is why the AMH test and antral follicle count come first.

The legal position, which is unusual and matters

Thailand’s Protection of Children Born Through Assisted Reproductive Technology Act tightened the country’s fertility sector considerably after 2015. Commercial surrogacy is prohibited, and sex selection is prohibited. Egg freezing for your own future use is permitted and widely practised, and licensed clinics operate under Ministry of Public Health oversight.

The practical implication for a visitor is that a legitimate clinic will require documentation and will not bend the rules. If a clinic offers you something the law does not allow, that is the clearest possible signal to walk away — it tells you what else they are willing to do.

You need to be here for about two weeks

The cycle is time-locked to your own menstrual cycle, which makes this harder to schedule than most medical travel. Plan around 14 days on the ground: stimulation injections for 8–12 days with monitoring scans every 2–3 days, a trigger injection, then retrieval roughly 36 hours later. Retrieval itself is a 20-minute day procedure under sedation.

Some clinics will let you begin stimulation at home under your own doctor’s supervision and fly in for the final monitoring and retrieval, cutting the stay to around a week. This requires genuine coordination between two clinics and is not always possible — ask early rather than assuming.

The costs people forget

Annual storage typically runs $300–$600 per year after the first, and it continues indefinitely. If you later want to use the eggs, thawing, fertilisation, and embryo transfer are a separate cycle at separate cost — budget several thousand dollars more.

Also worth being clear-eyed about: freezing eggs is not the same as having a baby. Live birth rates depend heavily on your age at freezing, and no clinic can promise an outcome. Any that does is one to avoid.
